Geological factors influencing oil recovery from Pre-Cenozoic basement oil reservoirs of Su Tu Den and Su Tu Vang fields
Abstract
Oil bearing Pre-Cenozoic basement reservoirs of Su Tu Den and Su Tu Vang fields are quite complicated and they are created from the deformation of many magma complexes by tectonic faults and dykes in different geological periods, which divided the basement into many domains with independent or semi-independent hydrodynamic blocks, thus oil recovery is directly influenced by many geological factors.
In this paper, the authors analysed the geological factors that directly influence oil recovery such as the geological heterogeneity, the fault and associated fracture systems, differences of hydrodynamic resumes, and the presence of Oligocene aquifer during production processes. In order to have suitable approaches for increasing and enhancing oil recovery factor, further studies of the above geological factors will be necessary.
