Research to develop synthetic-based mud UNIMUD for drilling operations in Vietnam’s continental shelf
Abstract
The authors have conducted a research to develop UNIMUD, a synthetic-based drilling fl uid system which possesses a number of advantages for drilling complicated wells in Vietnam’s continental shelf. The research has built up the key components and important concentration range as well as focused on the principal mud properties to be controlled. Laboratory tests also showed that the emulsion stability, shale inhibition ability, and rheological properties of this innovative mud system are equivalent to those of imported mud systems.
