Geochemical characteristics of source rocks in deep-water wells in Nam Con Son and Tu Chinh - Vung May basins
Abstract
The characteristics of source rocks in deep-water wells in Nam Con Son and Tu Chinh - Vung May basins were evaluated by geochemical analyses such as Rock-Eval pyrolysis, TOC, GC, and GC-MS, etc. The organic richness and generative potential of Lower Miocene and Oligocene source rocks in the study area vary from medium to good, and the types of organic matters are quite similar to those of the shallow wells nearby. The maturity modelling shows that the Lower Miocene and Oligocene source rocks have been in the oil and gas generation phase.
