Biostratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy ofMiddle Miocene - Lower Pliocene sediments, block 05-1, Nam Con Son basin
Abstract
Sequence stratigraphy is an important factor which greatly affects the construction of geological models of structure and area. In this paper, the studied object is the Middle Miocene - Lower Pliocene sediments, which were completely deposited in the marine environment of the eastern part of Block 05-1, Nam Con Son basin. Sequence stratigraphy of the studied section divided by the biostratigraphic analysis results of the fossil groups includes foraminifera, calcareous nannofossil and marine dinoflagellate. The integrated results identified four complete sequences with accompanying system tracts, the boundary surfaces, the maximum flooding surfaces, the depositional environment and reservoir ability prediction of rock and seal units.
