Paleoenvironment and facies characteristics of Miocene sequences in Bach Long Vi area
Abstract
This article presents the study results of the paleoenvironment and facies characteristics of Miocene sequences in Bach Long Vi area in order to understand the distribution rule of sedimentary paleoenvironment and facies related to the petroleum system and hydrocarbon potential in the study area. The study results have defined that the paleoenvironment and facies of Miocene sequences were repeated in accordance with the rise and fall of sea level and spread out to the east and the northeast of the study area. The distribution rule of their paleoenvironment and facies varies from north to south: from delta plain, flood plain, paleo-channel facies to deltaic, marginal marine facies to middle, outer neritic facies.
