Knowledge management in oil and gas companies around the world and challenges for Petrovietnam
Abstract
Knowledge management plays a very important role in creating the competitiveness of a company, particularly in the oil and gas industry. However, the concepts of knowledge and knowledge management have not received much attention and been adequately studied by companies in Vietnam. From the basic concepts and the experience of international oil and gas companies in knowledge management, this paper focuses on analysing knowledge management model to be applied, steps to follow, and lessons learnt for Vietnam. The authors then propose a knowledge management system as one of the measures for accelerating human resource training and development (T&D) for Petrovietnam to grow into an entity of “high competitiveness locally and internationally” as stated in the Petrovietnam Development Strategy to 2025 and orientations towards 2035.
