Evaluation of the characteristics of sequence BH5.2.1, upper Tra Tan, Block A, Cuu Long basin based on core analysis data
Abstract
Geological and hydrodynamic modeling of reservoirs and reserve estimation are essential in petroleum exploration and production. The reliability of reservoir models depends mostly on the accuracy of input data, which can be taken from core and fluid analysis. Core analysis provides precise data on reservoir properties that are measured directly on core samples gathered from the wells. The results are also used to calibrate with well logging data to determine rock properties in uncored intervals and to build a general scene of the reservoir. From that, an optimised production and EOR plan can be proposed. This article focuses on evaluating porosity -permeability characteristics of sequence BH5.2.1 based on core analyses, which include porosity, Klinkenberg permeability at net overburden condition, grain ensity, cation exchange capacity, electrical properties and capillary pressure [1-8], performed at the Analysis Laboratory Centre of the Vietnam Petroleum Institute.
