Study and improvement of Al-Zn-In alloy sacrificial anode manufacturing process and international quality accreditation
Abstract
Sacrifi cial anode based on aluminum-zinc-indium alloy (Al-Zn-In) has been manufactured by the Centre for Technology Application and Transfer (CTAT) – Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) at a casting temperature of 750oC, a stirring rate of 20rpm and an annealing temperature of 200°C during 1 hour. The anodes obtained have high quality, homogeneous structure and stable manufacturing procedure. The electrical capacity is higher than 2,500A.h/kg and the close potential is more negative than -1.05V. The electrochemical characteristics and the alloy components of the anodes satisfy the strict requirements for sacrifi cial anodes as certifi ed by Det Norske Veritas (DNV), an international accreditation organisation.
